I’m hooked on this new app 1SE. It compiles recordings of one second every day to make a tiny movie of your memories, like social media without all the pretentious popularity bit. It’s just a flash of day-to-day experiences, the mundane and exquisite moments that are stringed together to make our lives. In the middle of life it passes so quickly we hardly notice its movement, like being underwater in those lazy rivers in Palm Springs. You can only be aware of the speed by noticing the movement of the pool tiles, the stable pieces of experience that pass us by and stay behind us as memories. The video feels like someone took a piece of each tile and made a mosaic of my life and in it, time becomes tangible, the memories emerge into a big picture and I can remember how it was and be grateful for its existence.
I discovered it by listening to a Ted Talk Radio hour where they interviewed the creator Cesar Kuriyama, it’s worth a listen.
