Anyone notice all the brown, black and tan at fashion week in New York? Wait, no? Your husband doesn't show you pictures and video clips of all the runways?
Ok, well anyways, brown. I care a relatively small amount about fashion week, just as much as it plays into real street fashion. I like the crazy stuff because it's art, but sometimes it feels a little excessive, and I hate the keeping up with the Jones' vibes. Micheal Kors had a really neutral line that I love and would wear every piece of. Trever on the other hand liked Kanye's line, big surprise! The weirder the better in his opinion, so I guess nylon space suits that make you look nakey are his jam.
The world hates Kanye right now because he's either a really terrible person or puts on a very good act, but he's sort of a genius. Trever and I have been talking about him a lot (weird?). We talked about how he's actually a really genius artist. Not in the traditional way - but the guy was well known and respected for his music and was able to make the switch from sonics to fashion and be successful in both. I think people who have art in their bones can switch to almost any medium and do well. Fashion as art is an interesting concept because it is such a practical medium and it is a symbol of status both in wealth and taste. Is there a way to do it well? A way to enjoy fashion without getting caught up in the rat race of it all? Can we separate the status of it from the enjoyment of it? I don't really know. I guess that's the goal.
